So I’ve had my Note 20 Ultra for nearly a week now and I have to admit that I am suitably impressed with it. The speed of the phone is top notch and it feels really nice to hold.
I’m going to start off with the gaming side of things for the Note 20 Ultra, now, I’m not really a mobile gamer, not in the sense of playing on my mobile phone. But with the team up between Xbox and Samsung I decided to give xCloud a try and I must admit that I didn’t think it would work smoothly, but the experience was pretty much flawless and it felt like I was playing straight from my Xbox One. There were a few little blips here and there, but there was nothing that interfered with my game play.
I tried quite an array of games as well, Forza Horizon 4, Gears 5, State of Decay 2, Halo and the one that surprised me the most, Sea of Thieves. This was such a brilliant experience, especially for being an online only game there was no interruptions or drop in quality, and I think what helped with this was the 120hz screen.
I also downloaded some native games such as Call of Duty Mobile and this worked brilliantly, especially when being connected to my Xbox One controller, and i will say that I enjoyed playing this more than this years Modern Warfare reboot. It gave me a sense of playing the older games especially as it has the older maps such as Nuketown, Firing Range, Hijacked etc. A lot of the maps I loved playing on Black Ops and Black Ops 2, so to get the chance to relive them, even in mobile form is nice.
The next thing on the Note 20 Ultra that I want to talk about is the camera. Now due to the Covid-19 pandemic that we find ourselves in I haven’t had much chance to test the camera out. However, I have just been on a nice little break away to the Derbyshire Dales so I managed to get to test it around our cottage and when we were out on walks.
As you can see from the images above this camera has some serious power, I tried out different modes from the basic settings right up to 108mp take. Being able to zoom in and still get some crazy amounts of detail is amazing.
The screen is another major plus on the Samsung Note 20 Ultra, combined with the 120hz, this is some serious smoothness and has made the screen an absolute joy to use. The one issue that I have found with the 120hz setting is that it does drain the battery a fair bit. I still have been able to get a days use out of the phone, but only just, but combining that with the use it’s had with all the gaming I’ve done, I guess you can say that it’s still pretty impressive.
The S Pen I haven’t been able to fully use and try all the features it offers, but it’s useful for taking selfies as all you have to do is just press the button and voila, selfie taken.
I’ve been able to try out the the gestures as well and I have found them to be quite useful, you can go back, forward, take a screenshot just by using the pen, and when writing on the screen it is unbelievably responsive.
It’s safe to say that I am currently loving this phone and can’t wait to get to know more of the features it’s hold. If you’re not on a budget and looking for a new phone, I cannot recommend this enough.
